Lausanne, Switzerland – 13 October 2025 – The World Federation of Acrobatic Dances and Dance Sports (WFADS) proudly announces its official establishment in Lausanne, Switzerland – the historic home of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and a global hub for international sports governance.
At its inception, WFADS unites representatives from 27 countries, working in partnership with federations, cultural institutions, and sports organizations around the world. Through these collaborations, the Federation aims to promote international competitions, raise awareness of Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll, Breaking, and Dance Sports, and integrate these disciplines into global cultural and sports platforms. With a special focus on youth engagement and grassroots development, WFADS seeks to expand the representation of its member nations and strengthen the global dance community.
The creation of WFADS marks a significant milestone in the global development of acrobatic and dance sports. As an international governing body, WFADS is committed to uniting, regulating, and advancing acrobatic dances, dance sports, and related disciplines worldwide. Its mission is grounded in the principles of excellence, inclusivity, and transparency, fully aligned with the values of the Olympic Movement.
By establishing its headquarters in Switzerland, WFADS underscores its commitment to joining the international sports family. The Federation will serve as the central authority for overseeing international competitions, supporting the growth of national federations, developing athlete training programs, implementing youth engagement initiatives, and promoting cultural and sporting values.
Looking ahead with confidence, WFADS has chosen the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the host country for several major international events — including the World Championship in Breaking, two World Championships in Acrobatic Rock’n’Roll and Acro Swing, and, in cooperation with the World Dance Council (WDC), the World Championship and two World Cups in Dance Sport. These prestigious competitions, taking place in the UAE from December 13 to 21, 2025, will bring together the world’s top athletes. Hosting such an unprecedented number of World Championships and World Cups within a single week marks a historic moment in international sports, positioning the UAE as a leading destination for athletic excellence, cultural exchange, and global unity.
“The establishment of WFADS in Switzerland reflects our dedication to building a unified, professional, and globally recognized center for acrobatic dances and dance sports,” said H.H. Sheikh Mohamed Bin Ahmed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, President of WFADS. “From Lausanne, we will carry out our mission to promote unity, creativity, and international cooperation through sport and culture.”
