Governance & Structure

The World Federation of Acrobatic Dances and Dance Sports (WFADS) is governed by its General Assembly, comprising national sport federation members and the Presidium. Together, they define the organization’s overall policies and strategic direction. The WFADS governance framework is designed to uphold fair representation, accountability, and collaboration across all continents and disciplines.

Empowering dancers through movement. Driving global unity. Fostering cultural and athletic excellence.

At WFADS, we believe dance is more than movement—it is culture, creativity, and sport united. Our mission is to inspire, empower, and connect people across the globe through the universal language of dance.

Guiding Bodies

Commissions

The Presidium establishes independent commissions to advise WFADS and support the fulfillment of its mission. These expert bodies provide specialized guidance to the President, Presidium, and General Assembly on matters within their respective mandates, ensuring informed and transparent decision-making.

Each commission focuses on a defined area of expertise — such as ethics, technical standards, judging, education, or athlete welfare — and contributes to the development and implementation of WFADS policies and programs.

The Anti-Doping Commission is responsible for promoting fair play and protecting the integrity of dance sport by ensuring full compliance with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Code and related international standards. It develops and enforces WFADS Anti-Doping Rules, oversees education and testing programs, and works to maintain a clean, ethical, and healthy sporting environment for all athletes.

The Athletes’ Commission represents the voice of dancers within WFADS, ensuring that their perspectives are reflected in all decisions affecting the sport. It advocates for athletes’ rights, welfare, and fair treatment, promoting equal opportunities and a safe environment for participation and performance. Through active dialogue with the Presidium and other commissions, the Commission strengthens athlete engagement in governance and supports the continuous development of dance sport worldwide.

The Audit & Compliance Commission safeguards the integrity and transparency of WFADS operations. It oversees financial reporting, internal control systems, and compliance with legal, ethical, and governance standards. Through regular audits and independent reviews, the committee ensures accountability, sound financial management, and alignment with the principles of good governance set forth under Swiss law and the Olympic Charter.

Committee Members:

  • Ms. Jasmeet Kaur Shan (India)
  • Mr. Kiklos Harvath (Hungary)

The Development & Education Commission leads initiatives that promote growth, learning, and capacity-building across all levels of WFADS. It designs and implements educational programs for athletes, coaches, judges, and administrators, fostering professional excellence and global knowledge exchange. Through its development strategy, the Commission supports the establishment of national federations, youth engagement, and the sustainable expansion of dance sport worldwide.

The Disciplinary & Dispute Resolution Commission is responsible for ensuring justice, fairness, and integrity within WFADS. It reviews and adjudicates disciplinary matters, handles disputes arising from competitions or governance issues, and ensures that all proceedings are conducted in accordance with the WFADS Statutes, By-Laws, and Code of Ethics. Acting with independence and impartiality, the Commission safeguards the rights of all parties and maintains the credibility of the Federation’s governance framework.

The Ethics & Integrity Commission upholds the highest standards of honesty, fairness, and respect within WFADS. It ensures that all activities and decisions of the Federation reflect the principles of ethical conduct, transparency, and accountability. The Commission oversees the implementation of the WFADS Code of Ethics, addresses potential conflicts of interest, and promotes a culture of integrity across all members, officials, and affiliated bodies.

The Events & Marketing Commission is responsible for promoting WFADS and its disciplines through world-class events, strategic partnerships, and global outreach. It oversees the planning and coordination of international competitions, championships, and promotional activities, ensuring alignment with the Federation’s values and development goals. The Commission also manages branding, media relations, and marketing initiatives to enhance visibility, engagement, and the global growth of dance sport.

The Judges’ Commission is responsible for upholding the highest standards of fairness, professionalism, and consistency in the evaluation of all WFADS competitions. It oversees the education, certification, and continuous development of judges worldwide, ensuring alignment with the Federation’s technical regulations and ethical principles. By maintaining transparent judging systems and promoting excellence in officiating, the Commission contributes to the integrity and credibility of dance sport on the global stage.

The Technical Commission oversees the development, regulation, and standardization of all WFADS sports disciplines.

It is responsible for defining competition formats, technical rules, judging criteria, and performance standards across all categories. By ensuring uniformity, safety, and innovation, the Commission upholds the artistic and athletic excellence that defines WFADS competitions worldwide.
