Commitment to Fairness and Respect

Code of Ethics

At the World Federation of Acrobatic Dances and Dance Sports (WFADS), we believe that true excellence goes far beyond competition results and athletic performance. Excellence is rooted in values — fairness, respect, and integrity — which serve as the foundation for everything we do. Dance sport is not only a discipline of artistry and athleticism; it is also a global community where cultural diversity, mutual respect, and inclusion must be upheld at all times. By promoting these values, WFADS ensures that athletes, coaches, and officials can thrive in an environment built on trust, equality, and responsibility.

Our Code of Ethics translates these principles into clear standards of conduct that apply across every level of our Association. From grassroots training halls to the stage of world championships, the Code guides behavior, protects the well-being of participants, and strengthens confidence in the fairness of our competitions. It sets expectations for transparency in governance, accountability in leadership, and integrity in performance, ensuring that WFADS remains a trusted steward of dance sport worldwide.

Understanding our Code of Ethics

It is the official framework that defines the values and standards of conduct for everyone involved in WFADS — from athletes and coaches to officials, volunteers, and partners.

The Code protects the credibility of WFADS and ensures that dance sport is practiced in an environment of fairness, respect, and integrity. It safeguards athletes, promotes inclusivity, and guarantees trust in competitions and governance.

The Code applies to all WFADS members and stakeholders, including National Federations, athletes, coaches, judges, referees, officials, staff, volunteers, and event organizers.

The Code is built around five pillars:

  • Ethics – Honesty, fairness, and transparency in all actions and decisions.

  • Respect – dignity, equality, and diversity.

  • Fair Play – competitions free from doping, corruption, or manipulation.

  • Accountability – responsibility in governance and decision-making.

All violations are investigated by the WFADS Ethics Panel. Depending on the severity, sanctions may include warnings, suspensions, exclusion from events, or permanent bans.

Yes. Decisions of the Ethics Panel can be appealed, with the final authority resting with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Reports of ethical breaches, misconduct, or safeguarding concerns can be submitted directly to WFADS through confidential reporting channels. Whistleblowers are protected from retaliation.

The Code of Ethics & Integrity complements the Statutes, Anti-Doping Rules and Safeguarding Policy, creating a unified framework for good governance and fair sport.
