WFADS Statutes

The WFADS Statutes establish the legal and organizational framework of the Association. They define its purpose, set out categories of membership, establish governance bodies, regulate elections, and provide for disciplinary and ethics procedures. In addition, they govern competition regulation and the process for amendments, ensuring transparency, accountability, and consistent standards across all levels of activity.

Serving as the cornerstone of WFADS governance, the Statutes provide stability while enabling growth and innovation. They ensure that every decision—from competition rules to leadership structures—is guided by fairness, integrity, and respect for cultural diversity. By uniting members and stakeholders under a single framework, the Statutes safeguard the Federation’s credibility and reinforce its role in the global dance sport community.

Understanding the Statutes

The Statutes are the legal and organizational foundation of the World Federation of Acrobatic Dances and DanceSport (WFADS). They define the Federation’s purpose, membership, governance, and rules of operation in accordance with Swiss law.

They ensure transparency, accountability, and consistency across all WFADS activities. The Statutes guarantee that decision-making, competitions, and governance are carried out fairly and with integrity.

They apply to all WFADS members, National Federations, officials, committees, and participants in WFADS-sanctioned activities.

Disputes are handled by the WFADS Arbitration Committee. Appeals may be referred to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The Statutes provide the high-level legal framework, while the By-Laws set out more detailed operational rules. Both documents complement each other and ensure effective governance.

The Presidium and President oversee compliance, supported by committees and independent auditors. Final authority lies with the General Assembly.
